Perspectives On Laughter

Have you ever noticed that when you are caught up in a stressful situation for a while, you are much more likely to pick up a cold or flu? And when everything’s going well you don’t get sick as often? It’s been shown in medical research that both stress and laughter have effects on the immune system, one having negative effects and the other positive ones. Laughter helps to stabilize blood pressure, stimulate circulation, aid digestion, increase oxygen supply to muscles, decrease muscle tension, and leaves you with an overall sense of well-being to name just a few.

Pencils Save Stress

A pencil could save stress? Ridiculous? Not so.

What is the most frustrating thing that happens to business managers? They lose information, get wrong information or cannot find information when they need it. Getting the information sometimes takes more minutes or even hours than the phone call, email or return letter for which the information was needed.

How Do You Overcome? How do you overcome 1,300 wpm (words per minute) of negative self-talk? “Maybe, my negative self-talk isn’t that bad? How would I know?” Look at your life. Have you created the life you have dreamed of? Have you become the person you would like to be? Have you found the talents within you that make you happy and lose all track of time?

If the answer to any of these is, “No”, one of the reasons is negative self-talk. How do you overcome memories and subconscious judgments you don’t even know you have made? “How do I know, I have those?”

Are Your Friends Hurting Or Helping Your Heart?

Who are the five people with whom you spend the most time — at work, at home and socially? According to Jim Rohn, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Could your relationships determine your heart health? According to a new study in the Archives of Internal Medicine the quality of personal interaction has an impact on your health.

Stress causes your body to produce cortisol, a chemical which damages your heart. Laughter, relaxation and sleep (along with exercise) eliminate cortisol from your body. So here is the question: Are your friends, family and coworkers helping you eliminate cortisol or creating it?
