There are a number of tricks and shortcuts that are fairly well known among people that have been using Windows a lot over the last 14 years of it’s existence. However, we tend to take it for granted that everyone knows these things, when in fact they don’t.

Some of these functions are documented in the Windows help files, but I’ve noticed (with our secretary and my colleagues, for example) that most people never read the help files. I suppose they are kinda boring…

Once upon a time, in a land far away, there was a photographer that always told his subjects, “Smile big for the camera.” The problem with this fairytale is that not everyone smiles all the time. Let’s say for example you said that; to someone at a family reunion you happen to be covering, and then you find out that person just lost her spouse of 53 years. Would that still be appropriate? When you cover events; your job as the photographer is not just to cover what everybody expects, but to cover what they feel as well.

If the food has been in the refrigerator longer than 4 days, throw it out. Chances are that bacteria has already set in and why take a chance of it harming someone.

Moving items around, is not cleaning. Wipe off the shelves with a damp cloth as you are sorting through the items to toss out. A solution of baking soda and water works good disinfects and gives your refrigerator a fresh odor. (Do not forget the door and drawers!

No More Hard Closing
